The idea of collaborative Law is that you work with your partner and respective solicitors to achieve agreement on separation or divorce without going to court.
It has to be agreed with your partner that you will enter into the Collaborative Law process. Full disclosure of financial documents is then provided by you both. There will follow a series of meetings with your partner and the solicitors when agreement will be negotiated directly rather then through letters. The process promotes an amicable approach and promotes communication.
If agreement cannot be achieved, you will both have to instruct new lawyers to invoke the court process.
